The Horace Baker Log cabin is one of the oldest free standing log structures on the west coast of the U.S.. Originally emigrating here in 1847 via the oregon trail Horace Baker and Jane Hattan had settled on the site where the cabin now sits, The cabin was constructed in 1856 of timbers that were destined for the california gold fields. the purchasing party reneged on the order and Horrace bought the whole lot of logs and constructed the now standing log cabin.
