Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts

The Schrott Center is a true hybrid design for music, dance, and theatre. Audience members will notice the sound reflector at the top of the auditorium that connects perfectly with the acoustic sound shell, the raked seating of traditional theatre seating, and an intimate balcony. Sight lines are superb from every seat, and the acoustics have been carefully balanced and are at least the equal to any hall of this size anywhere in the world.

The large stage is suitable for large ensembles and the combined forces of chorus and orchestra, and the audience capacity of 450 makes the hall ideal for smaller dance productions as well as theatre productions using the proscenium stage.

The Art Gallery onthe main level as well as the upper west lobby provides extensive space fordisplaying two- and three-dimensional art. In addition to serving the needs of our students in the performing and visual arts, the entire Center serves as a functioning laboratory for Butler Arts Administration students, and the audio-visual recording capacity will do likewise for Butler Media Arts students.
