More about Jimmies Restaurant and Baseball Gallery

i come to you as a fourth generation restaurateur. my great-grandparents , ann and antonio, opened a small tavern and ice cream parlor in manahawkin, nj, in 1923.
in 1937, my grandparents jimmie and marie took over a business selling sandwiches and added six bowing lanes and pool tables . that became the lakeside bowling academy . in 1947 the front of the building was remodeled to a bar and restaurant and this would be the first jimmies.
later, when bowling was at an all time low in popularity , jimmie and marie covered the lanes and made a much larger bar and a beautiful dining room . that building is still there and the lanes are still under the floorboards . my grandparents decided to retire in 1955 . five years later they decided with the help of my father jimmie, and my uncle anthony to purchase the parkway bar . that became the second jimmies .
in 1968 my parents jim and marilyn left the family business to start thier own bar and restaurant , known as jimmie mascolo's carriage house in barnegat, NJ. by this time my sister donna , and brothers wayne, and mike had all been trained in all phases of the restaurant business . mom and dad sold the carriage house in 1977 and retired to florida .
in march 1984 , my brother mike talked mom and dad out of retirement to help him start his own restaurant , known as the italian garden restaurant in banana river square , cocoa beach , fl. business in florida at the time was so brisk that i relocated to florida with my wife peggy , daughter danielle, and son jimmy to lend a hand while i looked for a place of my own .
we soon purchased crosbys restaurant on us#1 in rockledge. that became the third jimmies , opening in 1985 serving breakfast , lunch, and dinner with a country theme.
in 1996 we started to put up some of the baseball memorabilia i had collected over the years . everyone seemed to relate to it some how or another. many customers over the years brought me all sorts of baseball things. by 1998 we added baseball gallery to our name .
a true family restaurant , as my wife and children all pitched in to help make jimmies a success .
jimmies on route 1 was a unique place and great memories will always be with us. the property was sold in 2007.
the fourth jimmies opened here at turtle creek on september 15th , 2008. after the long search for the " right place" to relocate a special thing happened . when i first walked through the front door , looking out through the dining room window, it looked like a postcard for florida. this is my personal " field of dreams ."
daughter danielle , now a teacher at MILA elementary , son jimmy who helps me run the restaurant, and son nick who is pursuing his passion for music playing drums. my wife peggy is the backbone of the operation , and wears many hats. probably the most important one to you is she bakes some of the best homemade cakes anywhere!!
in 1991 my sister, diane opened the italian fisherman restaurant in port st. john . the business grew rapidly having gained a great reputation in the area . she sold the business in 2006 and recently reopened the italian fisherman II at 3434 s. washington ave. titusville, fl. 32780 .
that is the past history of our family business . i will be sharing the future with you as i keep the tradition of serving the finest quality food at the most affordable prices in an absolutely awesome atmosphere .
a special thank you to all our loyal customers who have helped make jimmies a success throughout the years .
thanks for everything , jimmie
