OUR HISTORY

In 2008, Attorney Carnell Johnson and Attorney Elaine Nicholson, a husband and wife team, relocated to Charlotte, NC from Newark, NJ. Upon arrival, Mr. Johnson worked as an Assistant Public Defender at the Mecklenburg County Public Defender's Office. Prior to this, Mr. Johnson worked as a law clerk and associate lawyer with the Law Office of Thomas R. Ashley, a legendary lawyer in New Jersey. He also worked as a Deputy Attorney General with the Office of Attorney General for the State of New Jersey.

While employed as an Assistant Public Defender, Mr. Johnson handled hundreds of criminal cases and conducted many trials. Elaine Nicholson worked as an attorney representing parents in abuse and neglect cases. Mrs. Nicholson also provided estate planning services to many clients.

In 2010, this husband and wife duo formed Johnson & Nicholson, PLLC and its office is located in East Charlotte, specifically in the U.S. Immigration Courthouse .

Johnson & Nicholson, PLLC’s philosophy is simple: maintain the clients’ trust. After representing hundreds of clients, both partners agree that there is no way to proceed in a case if the client loses trust. Johnson & Nicholson also firmly believes in client communication. PRACTICE AREAS:

Immigration Law: Johnson & Nicholson, PLLC has represented clients in various immigration matters, including but not limited to removal proceedings, asylum petitions and family bases visa petitions. Attorney Johnson speaks fluent Spanish and there are paraprofessionals on staff who also speak Spanish, Igbo and Twi.

Criminal Law: Johnson & Nicholson primarily assist clients with criminal matters that also have immigration matters before the Court. We will also assist clients by reopening old criminal convictions in deportation proceedings.
