KCAB Rock 97.1

River Valley Radio of Russellville, AR has recently developed a brand new, customized radio station for area young people. Aimed for the 18-34 year old demographic within the Arkansas River Valley, Rock 97.1 will have an emphasis on events and businesses that Russellville and River Valley young people are craving. The 18-34 demographic make up about 40% of the Russellville and River Valley population, but are oddly underrepresented on the airwaves. Seeking to remedy that, River Valley Radio set out to design a local, student and adolescent centered station beginning in 2016. Rock 97.1 hit the airwaves the day after Christmas in 2016 and the hard launch began on January 17, 2017.

Rock 97.1 is an eclectic mix ranging from alternative rock and indie funk to post hardcore and Americana folk, with everything in-between! You will hear artists like TwentyOne Pilots, Green Day, Tool, The Lumineers, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and The Black Keys. Not only will the music be something worth tuning in to, but the station programming will be phenomenal as well! Friday Night Live, a segment that will run on Friday evenings, will feature local musicians on-air who come in to the station recording studio to record their tunes. Area industries will also be featured weekly to expose high school and ATU graduates to careers in the area that would be wildly beneficial not only to them, but to the community and their wallets as well.

Arkansas Tech University events and honors will also be highlighted on-air, bridging the gap between the ATU and Russellville communities. The ultimate goal of Rock 97.1 is to facilitate the means for exponential growth in the River Valley and Russellville. By attracting area high school graduates to the ATU campus and then helping bring the River Valley into a new light to ATU alumni, Rock 97.1 hopes to be a catalyst for River Valley development and retention.
