More about KDAV 1590 Oldies Remembered

KDAV is an AM radio station that started broadcasting on 1590 in Lubbock, Texas in August 1998. The KDAV call letters were originally assigned to AM 580 in Lubbock. This was the station that Buddy Holly had performed at before he had made it big. The KDAV call letters were also assigned to a station in Davenport, Iowa. They were reassigned to the Lubbock market when our station owner had asked to have them issued to him. KDAV is one of the last independently-owned-and-operated commercial radio stations in the U.S.A. KDAV AM 1590 was originally a station that had focused on 1950's and early 60's rock & roll music. Because of the difficulty in finding enough advertisers, KDAV had expanded its music library to include Mid 1960's and 1970's Rock and Roll music and pop music, as well as, a few 1980's songs back in 2007. In 2010, KDAV further changed its format by adding The Alex Jones Talk Show. In 2013, KDAV added a local Saturday morning talk show called Texans In The Know. This was the same year KDAV started airing Nascar Sprint Cup Series Races from the Motor Racing Network. On March 30, 2015, High Plains Radio Network and Monte Spearman took over the programming of KDAV AM 1590. That is when it ceased broadcasting oldies and classic hits music, the two Alex Jones talk shows, Texans In The Know, and MRN coverage of the Sprint Cup Series races.
