Kelli says, “I am very forthright. I call a spade a spade. I am very honest with people right from the beginning. When they ask how much can they afford, I ask what house payment are you comfortable with. What’s your rent now? I don’t like to get people in over their head and they are very appreciative of that.” To help borrowers compare their options, Kelli sends clients and their agent a loan comparison spreadsheet to show them the difference in payments and other costs.

That straightforward approach is invaluable to clients who are in a life transition. Kelli doesn’t hesitate to pick up the phone to help resolve legal or credit issues than could potentially delay the closing, such as divorce matters and disputed credit problems. She says, “I do lots of things that are not really my job to help my clients get to closing.”
