Knights of Columbus, San Lorenzo Council 12378

On January 1999, then District Deputy , Chuck Smith, conceived the
idea of starting a new council at the San Lorenzo Spiritual Center. At first, he discussed the idea with Marc Villaflor, who was then the Deputy Grand Knight of St. Benedict Council 9056.

Then, he approached Fr. Leo Manalo who gave his blessings. With the
help of Brother Knights from St. Benedict Council and few others, recruitment started. Response was very positive resulting in a new council with forty-two new recruits and transfers.

Thus, San Lorenzo Council received its charter on February 18, 1999.
There were 76 charter members under the leadership of Marc Villaflor, the Charter Grand Knight, who basically laid the foundation for what the San Lorenzo council is today. The council was named after the first Filipino saint, San Lorenzo Ruiz De Manila. San Lorenzo Council # 12378 became the first Filipino - American Council ever in the United States.

Today, we have approximately 150 members.
