Playing in a band is the quickest way to improve.
Performance is the greatest teacher.

We teach you how to find your place in the music. You will learn how to listen to, play with and support other musicians as you perform cover tunes, write originals, get a performance together, operate a PA, put your music online, and get booked at local venues and festivals.

We’ve taken everything we've learned over decades of performing and teaching music and put it into a program of afternoon music lessons designed to help kids and adults play in a band and perform in public as quickly as possible and at their highest potential.

What we offer:

Great Instructors
We have instructors with decades of experience performing, teaching, and guiding youth and adult bands from practice to successful regular public performance.
We also encourage kids to teach each other. Kids can often reach other kids in ways that adults cannot. We have several youth mentors, age 9-11, with experience performing in a band publicly on stages, sidewalks, and on the radio, in front of children and adults. All are graduates of our program and are available on an as-needed basis to help other kids overcome obstacles related to learning, performance anxiety, socialization, negotiation and compromise. They can offer mentorship on the following instruments: vocals, electric guitar, acoustic guitar, electric bass, keyboards, drums, percussion.

Personalized Lessons
We coordinate your lesson so that you can learn the music you want with the people you want to play with. If you want to play your favorite radio songs with some friends, we can help you navigate the difficulties and make it a rewarding experience. If you want to play drums with a guitarist and a bass player, ditto.
Regardless of your desired format, we will use a combination of constructive group feedback and individualized instruction that will guide your improvement.

Equipment
We can provide the following:
Electric guitars (short and long scale)
Acoustic guitars (steel and nylon string)
Basses (short and long scale)
Drums (electronic and acoustic, hand or stick, stationary or marching)
Keyboards
Microphones (instrument and vocal microphones)
Mixers
PA (public address systems).

Training on how to use these instruments and equipment is a central part of the program.
We will also help you find instruments to rent before you take the plunge and buy.

Performance:
We believe that performance is the best teacher. We will prepare you for successful public performance, set up gigs for you, and teach you how to get booked at events, festivals, and clubs. Part of the process of getting your band booked is to record your music and get it online.

Affordability:
Our lessons cost significantly less than private music lessons.

All ages, skill levels, instruments, and genres are welcome!
The skills that enable you to play with a group are unique, but easy for anyone to learn on any instrument playing any kind of music. All are welcome!
