La Petite Crêperie

Just about everybody loves French food, but not everybody has the time or budget for traditional high-end French restaurants. In the U.S., we have choices for faster Mexican, Chinese, Italian, and Indian food, among others, but faster French restaurants are very hard to find, and non-existent in Lexington, KY.
The French, who are masters at fusing the traditional with the modern, do have many restaurants serving quality, simple food quickly. La Petite Crêperie is modeled after these. Our goal is to recreate the classic casual French crêperie where people can get a light, affordable meal, snack, or dessert crêpe to be enjoyed in our dining room or taken away.

The crêpe is at the center of our business. These are very thin pancakes, usually made from wheat flour (crêpes de Froment) or buckwheat flour (galettes). While crêpes originated in Brittany, a region in the northwest of France, they are enjoyed all over France, Québec, and many other parts of the world. They are served with a variety of fillings, from the most simple with just sugar to flambéed crêpes Suzette, or elaborate savory ingredients including meats, cheeses, vegetables and sauces.

As with the walk-up crêperies in France, our crêpes are prepared in front of the customer as they watch. They are made to order with any combination of sweet or savory fillings they choose. These can be served with salad or a soup of the day in the winter . We also offer French style sandwiches, pastries, soft drinks, beers and good fair trade organic coffee.

Décor, music, and general attitude creates the real French experience. Outdoor seating is de rigeur. Certain essential menu items such as French beer, Orangina, Croque Monsieur, Nutella and espresso reminds Francophiles of their times spent in France.

Located close to the University of Kentucky and downtown Lexington, near campus activities, and at the edge of Lexington’s historic and popular Woodland Park, La Petite Crêperie offers an authentic French restaurant experience very similar in price and speed of service to surrounding weekday lunch restaurants. We are also open for private parties, group meetings, and educational events.
