Lake Harriet Christian Child Care Center

Lake Harriet Christian Child Care Center is a non-profit, NAEYC accredited center that has provided child care for almost 30 years. We are located within walking distance of 50th and France and provide child care for children between the ages of six weeks and six years.

We are located in the basement of Lake Harriet Christian Church. The generous amount of space allows our small center the chance to have large, open classrooms. As well, we have a special Art Room and a Large Muscle Room for those days when Minnesota weather doesn't allow us to play outside. Teachers also have access to a resource room where they can work on their weekly lesson plan or check their classroom e-mails. We also have ample space outside; our playground is a popular place! Each classroom gets at least two hours of playground time a day, weather permitting.

LHCCC uses a mixture of Creative Curriculum and the Houghton-Mifflin Curriculum. The entire center puts their own spin on weekly themes. If you have a child in the infant room and a child in the preschool room, they will both be discussing the same theme on the same week, simply geared for their age group.

At LHCCC, we encourage children to be creative, explore their surroundings, and learn by trial and error. Each classroom has designated circle times and small group times as well as multiple chances during the day to partake in student-lead activities. We value the use of music, dance, and art in the classroom. As well, we strive to help children explore different cultures, understand the world we live in, and respect our environments at a local and world level.

And, of course, we believe in having fun at LHCCC! Every day is special, so we celebrate traditional and wacky holidays (such as National Zucchini Bread Day!) We also schedule fun activities for days without holidays, and frequently have special snacks, dress-up days, and art activities. We also encourage parents and family members to stop by and join in on the fun, whether it's for our center picnics, Grandparents' Day celebration, or to be a Mystery Reader in a classroom.
