Little Angel Gowns-Capital Region NY

“Little Angel Gowns" is an all-volunteer group helping parents who have suffered the loss of a baby by providing burial gowns, free of charge, to the families. We hope to alleviate further stress on a family who is already suffering the loss of their loved one. Gowns are made from donated wedding gowns, First Communion dresses and other formalwear and transformed into angel gowns by our seamstresses. We offer these gowns for babies weighing under one pound up to approximately 13 pounds.

This group was started in 2014 by a retired NICU nurse, Marie Murphy, in Indianapolis, Indiana. Now, there are chapters sprouting all over the country and we launched a new chapter in The Capital Region in April, 2015.

What we Need-Seamstresses/Sewers who are willing to volunteer a few hours of their time to create an “angel gown” from a “dream gown.” All simple patterns and instructions will be provided...Donations of white and ivory wedding gowns, first class postage stamps, copy paper, printing services and gift cards to Joann's, Target, Walmart and Staples are also needed. This is a non profit 501 (c) (3) and any donations will be met with a tax credit form, if desired.
