LoneStar Ebikes

LoneStar eBikes rents and sells electric bikes. eBikes use an electric motor to provide an electrical assist when riding to make starting, climbing hills, and going further/faster easy. eBikes make riding fun again for everyone. We carry Haibike, EasyMotion, Magnum, GenZe and iZip eBikes.

LoneStar also provides a number of guided and self-guided tours.

Jay and Mary Ford Started this business after finding that eBikes helped them get needed exercise without the joint pain, fatigue or exhaustion that exercising in other ways caused. e-Bikes also proved to be extremely fun.

The opportunity to bring this business to Salado started when Jay had coffee with one of the Deans from Texas A&M Central Texas who lives in Salado. He shared with Jay the problems the businesses, village and community faced during extended construction on IH-35. Jay looked for ways to help Salado until on a shopping Trip to Salado he realized that the Village of Salado is much better suited for bicycles than for walking or cars due to distances between businesses, parking challenges, and the way that businesses are hard to see when driving on Main St.

Jay refined his plan to include eBikes as he realized the a majority of the shoppers are over 50 years old, the climate gets too hot for regular bikes, and as he realized that many of the Inns, B&Bs and Historic sights are not close to Main St.

EBikes became a natural fit for History, Art, Garden, Shopping, and Food/Beer/Wine Tours that are providing a fun, informative and recreational way for visitors to explore all that Salado has to offer.
