Lulu's Ice Cream & Gelato

LULU'S ICE CREAM was created in 1998 by Sabrina Seelig at the age of 13 as an inspired solution to her desire for a summer job where she could write and read and listen to Jazz records to her hearts content whilst serving up summer treats (and conversation) to the locals and “from-away” crowds of Rockland, Maine. The infamous Lulu’s of Rockland was named after the family dog at the time, a Vizla named Lulu, who needed a bit of an self-esteem boost. The eclectic oasis that is Lulu's was built by Sabrina & her dad Warren Seelig, in the spring of 1998 with some design work from her sister Ashley, and business know-how from her mom, Sherrie Gibson, (who owns the store Black Parrot in front of Lulu's at 328 Main St). Sabrina ran Lulu's by herself initially and then, as the years progressed with help from friends, and like-minded employees. Sabrina's family still runs Lulu's today and are proud to continue her traditions of playing great music on her record player while enjoying the beautiful Maine summers and keeping everything at Lulu's as authentic as possible. We keep Lulu’s open as much as we can and hope her eclectic charm will please you as much as it does us.
