Founding owners Ryan McDiarmid and Brian Hight started making candles as Christmas gifts in college. They were a hit, so they started a home-based business when they returned home from school. Recipes improved and sales blossomed, so in the spring of 2008 the two moved the operation to downtown Independence, KS.

Magnolia Scents by Design is a destination shopping experience, offering fun and friendliness in an ultra-relaxing atmosphere.

With the great success of our first store in Kansas, we decided to expand and open our second on Main Street in gorgeous downtown Greenville, SC.

We offer products lines that make perfect gifts for the special people in your life... or for yourself! The soy candles are still manufactured on site, as well as a huge variety of scented products for the home and body, including lotions and creams, aroma mists, liquid soaps and of course completely natural lye bar soap.
