About Capt. Dave

Dave Freisleben grew up in the Galveston Bay Area. Drafted by the San Diego Padres in 1971 he began his career as a professional baseball pitcher. After setting several records and leading the minor league ranks in strike-outs, he advanced to the Big Leagues in 1974 throwing a complete game for a 6-2 win against his first opponent, the Philadelphia Phillies.

Later his rookie year, he set another record throwing 13 shut-out innings against the Big Red Machine of Cincinnati only to get a No-Decision in the 1-0 win in the 14th. After several years with the Padres, he was traded to Cleveland and then finished his final season with the Blue Jays in 1979. Since then he spent 2 seasons as a pitching coach in the Rangers organization. In 2014, Dave Freisleben was inducted into the inaugural class of the Pasadena ISD Athletics Hall of Fame.

Dave is now a fishing guide on Galveston Bay and he puts the same passion and effort into his fishing charters as he did when he was on the mound. You will not find a better customer-oriented fishing guide in the area.
