Margaret is a city in St. Clair County, Alabama, United States. At the 2000 census the population was 1,169. As of the 2010 census, the population is 4,428, an increase of 278.8%. The racial makeup of the town was 65.18% White, 32.59% Black or African American, 0.34% Asian, 0.09% from other races, and 1.80% from two or more races.There were 401 households out of which 41.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.8% were married couples living together, 16.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.7% were non-families. 16.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 4.5% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.92 and the average family size was 3.26.
