Mike Gaffney has lived in the Charlottesville area for over 35 years. He was so enamored with the natural beauty of the area and even more so with the wonderful people who called central Virginia home that he soon realized that this place was “home”. He purchased the shell of a home in 1981 and as he finished it off over the next few years he fell in love with homebuilding.

During a career spanning 30+ years Mike has built more than 350 homes under the Gaffney Homes and Gaffney and Associates Custom Builders names. Many Realtors include the Gaffney name when listing for sale one of Gaffney’s past homes. Mike earned many awards during his years as a builder including a National Pacesetter Award from Custom Builder Magazine in 1995 and the 2007 America’s Best Builder Award from Builder Magazine and the National Association of Home Builders.

Gaffney has extensive experience in all areas of residential real estate as he says “with over 350 homes built there was a real estate transaction at the beginning and end of each one.”

Gaffney has also been honored for his business acumen and for his work in the community with the 2002 Charlottesville Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Person’s Award and the 2012 Paul Goodloe McIntyre Citizenship Award which “recognizes outstanding citizen contributions to our Greater Charlottesville communities.”Mike can help you with the evaluation and preparation in getting your current home ready for sale and then guiding you through the negotiation, contract and follow through to close. Mike’s wife Lise is a GE employee with the Global Growth Operations company working on bringing 3,000 jobs to Saudi Arabia for women. He has two children, Jessica who is an Event Planner at Farmington Country Club and Brian who co-owns and operates The Flat, a craperie on Water St.
