The Motor Werks name has been a dominant part of luxury automobile retailing for nearly 40 years. The company began with the Mercedes-Benz and BMW franchises in 1971 in downtown Barrington, now the present home of Motor Werks Cadillac. Motor Werks indoor mall opened in 1987 as one of the first such concepts of its kind. Today that 30-acre facility serves Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Porsche, INFINITI and Honda sales and service customers.
Employing 400 staff members at five locations, Motor Werks is ranked number 89 among Crain's Chicago Business Top 100 Privately Owned Companies in Chicagoland, and has delivered nearly 7,000 new and certified pre-owned vehicles delivered to individual retail customers.
With nine franchises, Motor Werks frequently heads the list of Illinois franchised automobile dealers in total number of new car registrations in the State. Over 80,000 service aisle transactions are completed each year. Not surprisingly, more than two thirds of the company's clientele are repeat customers. Among 2008 honors, Motor Werks Honda was named #1 in Customer Satisfaction among all Honda franchises in the United States. INFINITI of Hoffman Estates was proud recipient of the INFINITI Dealer Award of Excellence for 2010. Another notable award for Motor Werks Companies for 2011 was the Daily Herald Reader's Choice pick as "Best Import Dealer.” On any given day there can be as many as 900+ new luxury models and 700 pre-owned vehicles in stock, including Certified Pre-Owned choices.
