On May 1, 1941 a group of 24 people met to organize Mt. Signal Baptist Church This assembly voted to call the new body, Mt. Signal Baptist Church, derived from the near by famed mountain, Signal Point. It was from this second highest point in the state that a lamp was lighted each evening during the original Federal Survey, as a welcome signal to guide the early settlers. With the hope that this little church should be a light in our community, signaling all the people to come to Christ.
