Since the founding of St. John's Protestant Episcopal Church of Detroit in 1858, music has been a crucial part of the worship and life of the parish. The music provided for worship ranges from Gregorian chant to contemporary choral and organ works, while most hymns and service music are chosen from The Hymnal 1940.
