More about National SEED Project

SEED is a peer-led professional development program
that promotes change through self-reflection and interpersonal dialogue
and builds capacity for more equitable curriculum, campuses, and communities.

SEED's unique methodology involves:

-- facilitating ongoing, structured, group conversations in which all voices can be heard
-- examining how our own stories relate to social systems
-- learning from the lessons of our own lives as well as from texts
-- turning oppression and privilege into agency and action

Participants attend a seven-day SEED New Leaders Week and are immersed in multicultural SEED materials and methods in preparation for leading SEED seminars in their own schools and communities.

In their local, year-long SEED seminars, SEED leaders and colleagues use their own experiences and those of their students and children to widen and deepen school and college curricula and make communities more inclusive.

SEED seminars put participants at the center of their own professional development. SEED assists them in valuing their own voices so they can, in turn, better value the rich diversity of their students’ and children's voices.

SEED is a program of the Wellesley Centers for Women at Wellesley College.
