Nativity Catholic School

Nativity Catholic School has provided a quality Catholic education to students in El Monte and surrounding communities for 70 years.

Founded in 1947 and staffed by the Sisters of St. Louis and lay teachers, Nativity focuses on faith, character, and academic excellence with the goal of creating productive and responsible citizens. We are a school of inclusion and open our doors to children with learning disabilities, children whose families experience financial hardships, and children of all faiths.

Nativity serves grades TK-8. In 2012, the school opened a well-received Transitional Kindergarten that seeks to provide young children with the skills necessary for success in school. In all its programs, Nativity has stayed abreast of advances in technology, as shown by its computer center, interactive whiteboards in all classrooms, and integration of iPads into the curriculum. The school uses STAR math and reading assessments to determine placement and measure progress. Nativity also offers an Accelerated Reader program designed to build critical reading and communication skills.

Athletics are an integral part of the student experience at Nativity. The school is a member of the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), ensuring that children learn and practice good sportsmanship.

At our core, we recognize the importance of helping students grow in an awareness of God’s love for them and their value as unique people. And we maintain an open channel of communication with parents, encouraging them to be actively involved.
