More about New Orleans Mission

Faith Based Homeless Shelter and Outreach

The New Orleans Mission provides food, shelter, clothing and spiritual guidance to the city’s homeless, hurting and hungry.
Our commitment to meet the physical, social and spiritual needs of the homeless community is backed by the financial support of generous local residents, churches, organizations and corporate donors that understand the importance of being socially responsible to the people in communities where they live and/or do business.

In 2013, we made great strides at the New Orleans Mission.

+ We helped over 2,000 unique individuals and served over 240,000 meals

+ We increased the number of people in our one year discipleship program that offers life and job skills training and counseling.

+ We helped hundreds of men and women transition from a life of hopelessness to one of hope and a future.

+ We began the expansion of our women’s center so we can help more of the growing female homeless population in New Orleans.

+ We added an additional medical clinic from Tulane University Medical School to add to our existing clinic from LSU. We now offer medical clinics twice a week.

+ We added additional counselors. Having additional counselors has provided an opportunity for men and women to deal with past hurts and mental illness caused by mental and physical abuse.

+ While school was out during the summer, we delivered food to children who normally received free meals at school.

+ The Mission now offers the community affordable services through Mission Staffing – lawn care, cleaning, contract labor. This provides paid opportunities for the homeless plus supplemental income for the Mission. Employed disciples save 30% of their pay to foster financial independence.

These are just a few of the accomplishments we made in 2013.
