Established in 1976, Northern Outdoors offers year-round, affordable Maine adventure vacations and is the first and most experienced rafting adventure company in the state. In the summertime, we offer whitewater rafting, river floats, hiking, ATV trails, and fishing. When the temperatures drop in late fall and winter, ride some of Maine’s best snowmobiling trails or make one of our cabins your hunting headquarters. Lodging options include rustic to luxury cabins and riverside camping. Our very own Kennebec River Brewery is featured on the Maine Beer Trail! Northern Outdoors is located 4 hours from Boston, MA and 2-1/2 hours from Portland, ME on Route 201, The Old Canada Road National Scenic Byway in The Forks, Maine.

In the summer Northern Outdoors also has a Katahdin Adventure Base Camp at Abol Bridge Campground for Penobscot rafting and Baxter State Park hiking. The camping is on the Penobscot River, on the Appalachian Trail and steps away from Baxter State Park.
