More about Northstar Church Pryor

Northstar Church was started in 2010 by Pastor Roy and Candy Evans. After serving for over 30 years working in Children’s and Youth Ministry (18 of those living in the Pryor-Adair community) God stirred their hearts with a vision to start a life-giving church where all people young and old are welcomed and loved and could worship together and build significant, flourishing, God-centered lives. Family is important to us here at Northstar and it shows in all we do. Pastor Roy along with a team of ten people, launched Northstar Church in Pryor, Oklahoma. Today, Northstar is a thriving, caring body of believers committed to serving people of every age. At Northstar we feel our mission is to develop leaders and strengthen families. In just four years Northstar has grown rapidly to be one of the largest churches in Mays County. As Northstar has increased in size it’s also increased it’s care for our community and especially for children and families in need. Our Storehouse Food Bank provides thousands of meals for those in the Pryor area and throughout Mays County. Northstar also has a heart for the nations and supports a number of ministries and missions organizations reaching around the world.

At each of our three worship services, you’ll experience heart-felt praise and worship and hear practical teaching from the Bible. We have incredible ministry to kids at each service so that people of every age can experience God and get to know Him better. Family is important to us here at Northstar! Got teenagers? Northstar Youth meet during our mid-week service each Wednesday evening. There truly is something for every age here.

Northstar Church is full of friendly people who’d love to meet you and get to know you, so stop by and check it out! Come as you are, you don’t have to dress up. Come find out what it really means to be a part of a family church. We can’t wait to get to know you!

Beliefs | Northstar

About the Scriptures
We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit to write words of Scripture. The New Testament is our infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine. 1Thessalonians 2:13 | 2Timothy 3: 16-17

About God
We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to man and to become the Savior of the lost world. John 3:16 | John 1:1-2, 14, 18

About Mankind
We believe that man was created in the image of God to have fellowship with Him, but became alienated from that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, man is totally incapable of coming back into a right relationship with God by his own effort. Genesis 1: 26-27 | Romans 3: 23, 6: 5-11

About Salvation
We believe that the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sins. Therefore, salvation only occurs when a person places his faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as the sufficient payment for his sin. One who physically dies in his sins without Christ is eternally lost in the Lake of Fire, and therefore, has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. Romans 5: 12, 10: 9-10 | 1Corinthians 15: 3-4 | Ephesians 2: 8-10

About Christian life
We believe that every Christian should live for Christ and not for himself. By obedience to the Word and being baptized in the Holy Spirit, every believer will mature and receive power to be a witness in this world. John 1: 12-13 | Acts 2: 38 | 2Corinthians 3: 18

About The Church
We believe that the church is the body of Christ of which Jesus Christ is the Head. The members are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving Him and by making Him known to a lost world. 2Corinthians 5: 18-22 | Ephesians 1: 22-23, 4: 11-16

About Ordinances
We believe the two scriptural ordinances of a New Testament church are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We follow our Lord’s command to give public evidence of our salvation with baptism by water and faithfully remember Christ’s cleansing blood and broken body with the elements of Holy Communion. Matthew 28: 19 | 1Corinthians 23-26
