The School of Medicine at New York Medical College—the first school established by New York Medical College—owes its founding in 1860 to the vision of a group of civic leaders in New York City who believed that medicine should be practiced with greater sensitivity to patients.
The School seeks to admit and retain academically well prepared and compassionate students that reflect the College’s mission that a diverse student body provides a valuable educational experience which will prepare our students for the real world of medical practice within a multicultural society. Our students come from all over the United States building a mosaic of racial, ethnic, cultural, economic and educational diversity within the NYMC community.
