More about PAIN Management Clinic

TREATMENTS :

Our goal is to relieve your pain and treat it's cause. We do so through a balanced regimen of pain medications, muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy and a thorough physical examination

INJECTIONS:
Trigger Point Injections (TPI)

TPI is a procedure used to treat painful areas of muscle that contain trigger points, or knots of muscle that form when muscles do not relax. Trigger points may irritate the nerves around them and cause referred pain, or pain that is felt in another part of the body. In the TPI procedure, a small needle is inserted into the patient's trigger point, the trigger point is made inactive and the pain is alleviated.

Bursal Injections (subacromial/shoulder, trochanteric/hip)

Shoulder bursitis rarely requires surgical intervention and generally responds favorably to conservative treatment designed to reduce inflammation and pain, prevent weakness and atrophy of muscles as a result of disuse, increase awareness and prevent and reduce impingment and further tissue damage.

Joint Injections (shoulder, elbow, knee, etc.)

Therapeutic joint injections for pain management have been used for many years and are usually performed to relieve pain and treat inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, gout, tendonitis, bursitis, and osteoarthritis.
Viscosupplementation Injection Orthovisc, Hyalgan injection (artificial cartilage supplementation for degenerative joints)

These procedures involve the injection of gel-like substances (hyaluronates) into a joint to supplement the viscous properties of synovial fluid. Currently, these injections are approved for osteoarthritis of the knee joint, when more conservative treatments have failed.
EMG (Electromyography to diagnose the source of pain and manage subsequently)

Electromyography (EMG) is a technique for evaluating and recording the electrical activity produced by skeletal muscles. EMG is performed using an instrument called an electromyograph, to produce a record called an electromyogram.
Nerve Blocks for any type of neuropathic pain (carpal tunnel, darsal tunnel)

Neuropathic pain is chronic and complex and is often linked to tissue injury. It is caused by damaged or dysfunctional nerves. A nerve fiber injury impacts nerve function in that nerve plus areas around the injured tissue. The damage in these nerve fibers creates chaos by sending the wrong signals to the parts of the brain that control pain. Symptoms of neuropathic pain include excruciating burning or shooting pain that feels like a sudden electrical shock, tingling, numbness and increased sensitivity in the affected area.
