P&S Surgical Hospital, located in downtown Monroe, Louisiana, continues to garner accolades for incredible patient care and technically advanced medical procedures. P&S Surgical Hospital—named one of Louisiana’s “Top Hospitals” by Louisiana Life Magazine—was founded by a group of 19 doctors in a joint venture with St. Francis Medical Center in 1997. Since that time, our progress has earned significant national recognition. Now owned by 55 physicians as well as SFMC, our hospital has built a strong reputation for excellence in medical care.
Our fully licensed and accredited hospital offers 13 medical specialties, including bariatric, cardiac, ears, nose and throat, general, gynecological, neurological, orthopedic, and reconstructive procedures and surgeries. Cardiac and peripheral vascular catheterizations are performed in two state-of-the-art Cath Labs located on the second floor of the hospital. Surgical cases and pain management procedures are conducted in seven operating rooms on the first floor, while other services such as pre-operative preparation, testing, and urodynamics testing. P&S Surgical Hospital offers 22 in-patient rooms, all of which feature beautiful décor, private baths and comfortable sleeping chairs.

Ninety-one percent of patients who were treated at P&S Surgical Hospital reported their nurses “always” communicated well, compared to the state average of 83 percent and the national average of 78 percent.
Consumer Reports recently published safety ratings for the nation’s hospitals. P&S Surgical Hospital performed extremely well both in patient satisfaction and in avoiding adverse complications. Patients who used our hospital experienced approximately 73 percent fewer adverse events than predicted in the knee replacement category and 81 percent fewer adverse events than predicted in the coronary angioplasty category. Our staff takes every precaution to ensure the well-being of our patients, such as keeping our patients warm during surgery and other methods proven to lower the infection rate. The postoperative infection rate for P&S Surgical Hospital averages 0.18 percent, which is significantly lower than the national rate of 2.76 percent.
