In the spirit of Paul Robeson himself, the Paul Robeson Galleries is dedicated to an urban mission with an activist approach. This commitment includes organizing free exhibitions and public/education programs on local, regional, and international contemporary art and culture, as well as developing civic partnerships through community outreach programs. Our aim is to initiate cross-disciplinary and civic dialogues as ways of strengthening the bonds between art, education, and democracy.
The Paul Robeson Galleries presents critically engaging exhibitions, public events, and educational programs to Rutgers University and Greater Newark audiences. The PRG consists of nine exhibition spaces showcasing the work of emerging and established contemporary artists. This network of galleries includes: the Main Gallery, The Wall, the Pequod Deck, Orbit 1, Orbit 2, the U-Gallery, the Nova Gallery, the Messier Gallery, and the Criminal Justice Gallery.
