Pauline Trueblood Preschool

Pauline Trueblood Preschool was established in 1955. Pauline Trueblood (1901-1995), the founder of our preschool, was an important Quaker influence at Earlham College, and in the wider world. She brought the Wymondham relics from England to display in Stout Meeting House, and directed the rehabilitation of the President's home on Campus. She was the former Lead Teacher of Religious Policy for the United States Information Agency, co-author, with her husband D. Elton Trueblood, of the book The Recovery of Family Life (1935), and an accredited visitor at the Assembly of World Council of Churches. She was the mother of four children.
Pauline Trueblood Preschool (PTP) is a privately operated, not-for-profit organization serving preschool children from 3 years up to 5 years of age. PTP is financially supported by its membership through tuition, fundraising, and donations. PTP admits students of any race, color, ethnic origin, religion, and cultural background and does not discriminate in administration of its education policies or admission decisions.
At PTP, teachers provide a nurturing environment where children learn by doing. The classroom activities and learning centers are designed to stimulate, challenge, and enhance each individual child's creativity, social skills, motor skills, cognitive abilities, and academic readiness. Teachers work cooperatively with children to provide good examples of valuing, respecting, and learning from each other as well as the world around them. Children have opportunities for both independent and guided experiences as well as individual, age-specific, and multiple-age groupings. With the attention to both individual growth and community development, PTP strives to educate the whole child to adapt and function in the modern world. Pauline Trueblood Preschool is located in the West wing of Stout Meetinghouse, on the Earlham College campus.
