More about Perspectives of Photography Seminar, Shoot-Out & Photo Competition

The Student Association of Photographers (SAPs) of Pittsburg State University, in Pittsburg, KS, is hosting the “13th Annual, Perspectives of Photography Seminar, Shoot-Out & Photo Competition,” scheduled for the weekend of April 10-11, 2015 at Pittsburg State University. This annual event, planned and presented by the members of SAPs, is open to the high schools, universities and communities throughout the Four State region. It is designed to educate the attendees on multiple aspects in the field of photography as well as provide a creative outlet and information pool for anyone, whether they be the mom who just got her first digital camera, the hobbyist who just loves taking pictures, or the professionals who are already established in the photographic community and looking for new techniques.
This seminar provides the Department of Communication an excellent opportunity for scholarship fundraising, while fostering the already existing relationships that PSU has with the surrounding community, as well as, the development of new relationships with individuals and businesses that have not been as involved with PSU.
Contributions will help to fund scholarships that will be awarded to outstanding photojournalism/photography students who have demonstrated interest in pursuing a careers in photojournalism/photography or in the communication field, as well as provide funding for the SAPs organization to use for future conferences, workshops and photography enrichment related trips.
In addition to the fundraising opportunity provided by this event, it also provides the Four State area with an experience that had not been previously available, except with extensive travel and at great expense to the attendees. With having such a photographically saturated area, it seems only natural and almost necessary, for this service to be provided to the local photographic community, as well as the students of PSU. To have the opportunity to learn from those in their particular photographic field, who are more than willing to donate their time to further inspire those already interested in the field, is almost immeasurable.
