Petrey is a town in Crenshaw County, Alabama, United States. The population was 58 at the 2010 census.GeographyPetrey is located in northeastern Crenshaw County at .According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 1.9km2, of which 0.04km2, or 2.21%, is water.The town of Petrey was named after a man who owned a large cotton plantation. The railroad wanted to use some of his land, and he agreed. The railroad company established a train station on the land, and named it after him.DemographicsAs of the census of 2000, there were 63 people, 28 households, and 15 families residing in the town. The population density was 85.6 people per square mile (32.9/km²). There were 37 housing units at an average density of 50.2 per square mile (19.3/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 95.24% White and 4.76% Black or African American. 4.76% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.There were 28 households out of which 25.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 53.6% were married couples living together (3.6% same-sex couples), 3.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 42.9% were non-families. 39.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 17.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
