Pivotal Technique

Jerry Parker is a professional barber working under the roof of Rich Boyz Barbershop in Virginia Beach, Va. A Virginia Beach native, Jerry is changing and uplifting the community one hair cut at a time. Jerry takes pride in his profession. No luck and no handouts, just a lot of hard work and technique.

Jerry got his start cutting hair in the 7th grade. It was 2003 on a random Monday night that he had the urge to cut his own hair for the first time. Determined, he found an old pair of his father's clippers under the bathroom sink and got to buzzing. He was so impressed with his work, that he fell in love with the clippers. He started with himself, then his friends, and expanded to using his new found talent on the whole neighborhood. "It started really small just cutting 1 of my friend's hair and my uncle's hair for a long time. One day, my uncle told me he knew somebody that had his own shop, and that I should go talk to him about cutting hair there."

Jerry couldn't believe his ears. After all, he was still only a senior in high school and had never cut hair in a professional setting. Beside himself, and ecstatic about the idea, Jerry marched his way to the shop his uncle's friend owned. This was now January 2009. Jerry recalled telling the man "I don't want to just cut hair, I want to become a master barber." Fast forward to 2016. Jerry has become a master at his trade, and has been a professional barber for over ten years.
