The General Store has been a landmark and meeting place of the old mining town of Randsburg since the 1930s since it changed over from Jone's Drug Co. It is known for its long counters, antique backbars, old fashioned soda fountain and active malt machines. It is both is both a sit-down restaurant (serving many different breakfast and lunch items) and a general store and includes memorabilia, maps and locally-published histories on Randsburg. The living ghost town is just off of Highway 395 that connects LA with Bishop and Mammoth Mountain on the east side of the Sierras. It is located about 20 miles south of Ridgecrest.
