Reiki by Kai

What is Reiki?
The generic answer I have for this is that Reiki is a Japanese technique of stress and pain reduction that can also produce deep relaxation. When you have reduced stress and pain in your life, and you are more relaxed, your body functions better and can heal and energize itself. The more specific answer is that Reiki is different for every single person, so it's hard to describe. Many of the people I have worked on have described feeling so deeply relaxed. Some have said they felt like they were floating above the table. A few have giggled their way through. And some have fallen asleep.

What happens in a Reiki session?
We talk for a few minutes, then you lie down on the massage table. I will touch you lightly in various areas of your body while focusing energies through both of us to help clear flush your stress away. I focus on the 7 main chakras: Crown, or the top of your head; Third Eye, or the middle of your forehead; Throat; Heart; Solar Plexus, upper abdomen; Sacral, lower abdomen; and Root, or base of spine. This is not massage, just light touches. If you don't want me to touch your at all, even with the lightest touch, just request that I don't, and I won't. I spend a little time at each Chakra and a few other points on your body. At the end of the session we talk a little again and see how you feel. It's that simple.

About me:
I was interested in Reiki for as far back as my late teens and early twenties, but I never did anything toward researching it or pursuing education in it. My mom became afflicted with ovarian cancer, and after a long battle of many different medicines, she tried a Reiki session. I'll never forget her voice on the phone when she told me, "my pain was gone!" It renewed my desire to learn how to do this alternative therapy but still, it took me over 15 years to pursue training. Now here I am, a practitioner of the Usui Reiki method.
