On March 20th of 1854, the Republican Party was formed as an ideal in Ripon, Wisconsin. Later that year on June 6th near Jackson, Michigan, the Republican Party held its first State Convention. There, Free-Soilers, Whigs, Abolitionists, and those who held republicanism as the core of Americanism joined together to celebrate their new Party, the Republican Party.

Few, such as future-President Abraham Lincoln, understood what "republican" in the Republican Party meant. Many were not lawyers, nor did the masses have access to information like you do reading this on your select electronic device today. Men like Abraham Lincoln understood republicanism and how it was implemented in this nation prior to any government formed.
Republicanism was and is the basis of the Declaration of Independence, which established the only nation in the world with the Republican Form of Government - as guaranteed to the States in Article IV: Section 4 of the United States Constitution.

You may be asking "what is the Republican Form of Government?" The answer is in the 'unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America' itself:
"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation." - When it is necessary for people to revolutionize their government, they shall address their grievances and declare why they are separating while working within the Laws of Nature.
"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness." - This asserts that every individual is endowed by the Creator with unalienable Absolute Rights to Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness (Natural and Personal Rights).
"That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." - Rights are to be secured by a government that derives its power by those who consent to be governed.
"That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness." - When government fails its duties to secure Rights and govern those who consent, it is the Rights of the people to revolution in order to institute a new government to work within the parameters of the Republican Form of Government.
" Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed." - Governments should not be changed for fickle reasons, but people will tolerate violations to the Republican Form of Government as long as the violations are tolerable.
"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." - When violations and of the Republican Form of Government persists to reveal that tyranny exists, it is the People's Right and duty to revolution in order to reestablish the Republican Form of Government.

What if you don’t consent to be governed? Then you live as a Sovereign Individual, a noncitizen National, who may exercise their Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness over the property that they hold absolute ownership over (private property). But what about those who do consent? Those who have consented are “Citizens” as in the Constitution – the document which established the second government to secure Rights and govern those who consent. Citizens are subjects to the governmental entity which they have waived their Absolute Rights to in-exchange for the exercise of privileges that the government grants at a price of mandatory civic duties. These civic duties are performed to fulfill the Constitution's Preamble (Mission Statement): “We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The United States is the government/country (a federally chartered corporation – as any legal entity) that secures Rights and governs Citizens. The United States of America is the nation in where the Sovereign Individuals lie in equal authority to the United States government over the property which they have jurisdiction over. So, the United States government as a country lists everything that it will do for the nation of people that is the United States of America.
All Americans are born with the ability to exercise their Life, Liberty, and pursuit of Happiness that was endowed to them by their Creator – This is the American Birthright, which no other nation in the world has. This Birthright, the Republican – or Individualist – Form of Government, where people may live independently and their Rights to individuality are inalienable, is what the Republican Party was founded to protect, preserve, and promote. This is the true origins of the Republican Party of the United States.
Upon these principles of American Individualism, combined with the coalition of those who held Liberty to the highest degree, they formed a political organization that reminded those within the Democratic (Collectivist) Form of Government who they serve, regardless of political affiliation.
