Saluda Gem Mine Wicks & Wares

The Smith Clan has decided to bring back a piece of Saluda's history. Being one of the places in North Carolina to find minerals and gems Saluda NC is on the map for bringing historically known minerals and Gems to the eyes of those who are into gemology and mineralogy.

Our water trough/sluice boxes are fun for all ages. Who doesn't like to play in the dirt and be able to take home the minerals and gems they find!?

Our outdoor covered deck beside the nostalgic Saluda Grade Rail road tracks is a nice place to sit and enjoy the Mountain air and listen to the outdoor music. For the winter months we have a water trough/sluice inside. For semi warm days on Saturdays we may even have warm water outside in the water trough/sluice outside (especially if you let us know you are coming).

Our Wicks and Wares gift shop carries many local made things, & Melisa makes eclectic fragrant soy candles. For those that have never experienced a soy candle, they also make great moisturizers for your hands, elbows, ankles, feet and those with eczema and/or psoriasis. The affordable repurposed containers are hand picked by me (Melisa).

We carry many scents of natural soaps both in large and guest sizes. We can even help point you in the right direction to pick the soap for your needs. Some of our best sellers include: monkey farts, cherry almond, tee trea, lavender oatmeal, and Saluda Mountain Breeze. $6 for large - $3 guest size and $1.50 sample bars. Our youngest has now learned how to carve soap too. He has made some really cool looking soap stones from the natural soaps as great gifts for your rock hound at a fraction of the price of other soap stones seen online.

While here in Saluda you can visit other shops, visit The Gorges Zip line, Green River Adventures for Kayaking, tube down the Green river, camp at Orchard Lake and eat at one of the locally owned and operated restaurants. We have a local watering hole (pub) Green River Brew Depot. Wild Flower bakery is also somewhere you want to drop in while here too. Saluda is a place you do not want to leave and again fun for all ages. Our locally owned/operated Bed and Breakfast are always fun and lets not forget the Mtn top Saluda Lodge, also locally owned and operated.

You can also use our location for birthday parties, camp outings, and school field trips. We have 2 picnic tables for you to use (no location party fee). Discount for 5 or more guests. Discount is according to which type of bucket you choose for your guest/party.

Our post card town is located right off of I-26 just south of Hendersonville NC and north of Spartanburg SC and west of Charlotte NC.
