About SJMS:
Sarah Jane's Music School came as an expansion of Sarah Jane's Piano Studio. After years of noticing a need for more music education in NE and seeing fellow teachers look for a great space to offer lessons, a school was born. Music education is a vital part to a child's upbringing whether or not they strive to be professional musicians. The skills they learn along the way are important to their development in all areas of their life from creativity to discipline; problem solving to diligence. It's our pleasure to aide you or your child in the exploration of these ares. In addition to all these skills, we get to be a part of a musical process that is fun, exciting, and so rewarding, instilling a life-long love for music.

About Sarah Jane:
Sarah Jane Perbix has been teaching music with kids and adults for 16 years. Sarah graduated from Augsburg College with an emphasis in piano and french horn and has continued to freelance as a musician in the Twin Cities. Before opening her private studio, Sarah taught with the Yamaha Music Education system for years and completed their rigorous teacher exams and certification program. She is a current member of MMTA and MTNA, which allows many performance opportunities for her students. She enjoys and incorporates differing styles of music into her teaching and encourages students to be creative as well as diligent in their study.

Sarah has been embarking on national and international tours over the last 5 years as a member of Cloud Cult and Jeremy Messersmith's band. This has provided performance opportunities playing at national festivals such as Bonnarroo and Sasquatch, local festivals such as Rock the Garden, as well as TV appearances on the Tonight Show with David Letterman. All of these experiences are brought back into the teaching studio passing on a wealth of performance knowledge and musical styles to her students.

Sarah lives with her husband, Neal Perbix, in the Windom neighborhood of Northeast Minneapolis and is a large supporter of her community. She is thrilled to offer musical education to the surrounding area.
