Shinto ryu was founded in 1890 by Hibino Raifu during a period of great change for the martial arts of Japan. It was created as a way to reinforce the more traditional nature of budo. Our line of Shinto Ryu was brought to the US in 1992 by Robbie Pellett Sensei and is part of the Watanabe ha (line) of Shinto Ryu as taught by Mochizuki Takashi Sensei, founder of Seibu Jyuku. The art is currently taught at Seattle School of Aikido by Jeremy Hulley and Christian Moses.
