Smoky Mountain School of Photography

The Smoky Mountain School of Photography was formed in order to provide workshops and training classes to help avid nature photographers improve their craft. Our goal is to help you create the best possible images of the Great Smoky Mountains and Southern Appalachian region while learning more about how to be effective in the field.

The real advantage to joining the Smoky Mountain School of Photography for a workshop is that we all live in the foothills of the Smokies. We know the region. We scout for the best locations before each workshop in order to make effective use of your time. In addition to being fun, SMSOP workshops provide the best photo opportunities the Great Smoky Mountains have to offer.

We take our own cameras & equipment out in the field to use as teaching tools because we find this to be the most effective way to demonstrate techniques useful to workshop participants. SMSOP also emails suggested equipment & clothing lists to make the workshop experience in the Smokies more pleasant & productive.

After a SMSOP workshop, you may want to spend more time in the Smokies. We can give you advice on where & when to best utilize your own time. After you have completed one of our workshops, we certainly hope to continue our communications with you in order to share our mutual love of nature photography.

Our goal is that you not only learn more about photography in the Smokies, but that we begin lasting friendships.
