The on-site school garden is cared for by Student Gardeners who are employed as a job training and leadership development program. Over 6,000 square feet of school grounds were transformed into living classrooms and edible landscapes. The sustainably grown produce (1,000 pounds in 2012) is sold to raise money for the project and used in the cafeteria while school is in session (70 pounds in 2012).
Visit us at our Market Stand! Every Thursday from 4:30 to 5:30 near the library entrance at Southwest Middle School.
Volunteer in the Garden! Our regular workdays are Monday and Thursday 8am to 10am. We love to see new faces in the garden and will never turn away helping hands.
