Southwest Silhouettes by Shane

Southwest Silhouettes is a company started in 2009 to create metal art for the home and yard. Each item is cut from cold rolled steel using a handheld plasma cutter. Every item is unique in cut and color as every piece is individually cut and colored in a process as described below.

First each design is drawn onto the cold rolled steel to ensure the proper detail is correct.

Using a handheld plasma cutter Shane cuts each item out one at a time including the detail inside items that require interior cuts.

Welding is done on most items to secure a hanger on the back of the piece. Welding is also done to create 3D designs and yard ornaments.

Every item is polished to clean the metal for the coloring process.

Using a combination of chemical and heat treatments the color on each item is applied one at a time.

After additional cleaning and drying automotive clear coat is applied to seal each piece for indoor or outdoor use.
