Special STARS is a sports and recreational program for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities in Highlands, Hardee, Okeechobee and southern Polk counties. The program is free to all participants. Medical forms are needed for sports programs such as softball, shuffleboard, bocce, horseshoes, bowling, volleyball, tennis, golf, swimming, basketball, track and field, cycling and kickball. An exclusive recreation club for peoples with disabilities is available for a $5 yearly fee and includes parties, picnics, dances, theater shows, movies, camping, caroling and SFSC volleyball and baseball games. The organization is a program affiliated with Ridge Area Arc.
