Spruce Street Community Garden

The Spruce Street Community Garden was the brain child of a local professional gardener, Bettylou Sandy, who dreamed of a beautiful, green area for the Spruce Street community to grow their own food and enjoy some peace and quiet on the busy street. She partnered with the Office of Neighborhoods and Families at the Eastside Neighborhood Resource Center (aka the old firehouse across from the former Nathan Hale Elementary School) and, with the help of the Manchester Area Sustainability Cooperative (MASC), we built five framed raised beds in 2014. In April of 2015 we added four more framed raised beds and another community partner, LifeSong Church. We currently have eleven gardeners in our nine beds and various containers.
