Strawberry Island is a 3 acre island in the upper Niagara River. One of 6 islands surrounding Grand Island, Strawberry island is rich with wildlife and history. Known for fishing and recreational boating, the island contains a south side beach, cove on the northside and shallow water surroundings, making it ideal for many species of fish and birds. Other inhabitants include a variety of frogs and toads, crayfish and mussles, an occasional beaver, muskrats, bryozoan, a wide array of insents, and various plantlife including edible berries.
