The Fine Arts degree at Surry Community College provides graduates with a solid foundation for artistic growth in visual design. AFA in Visual Arts students learn to problem solve and brainstorm as they create visual design projects and communicate ideas with a wide variety of media. Visual Arts students gain skills in critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork through direct interaction with faculty and peers. Collaborative efforts with skilled artists and individual work produced in well- equipped art studios help our students gain the confidence and technical mastery necessary for a successful career in the visual arts.
Course work includes a variety of media exploration in both two dimensional and three dimensional forms. Students create a quality portfolio demonstrating a sound fundamental knowledge of fine art processes.
