The SVC Writing Center is a place where any SVC student can get individual help with writing from a trained and qualified writing consultant.
That means that rather than working with an instructor, students work with other students. Working with peer tutors is a great advantage; writers get help from someone with knowledge and expertise both in writing and in teaching in individualized sessions, and at the same time they are working with someone who can truly relate to their experience. All our peer tutors have successfully completed English composition courses–most at Skagit–and all are or have very recently been students, so they know what it’s like to feel the pressure of a looming deadline, or to be completely confused by an assignment, or to feel “stuck” on a piece of writing.
We are here to help you at any stage of the writing process. Need some help understanding your writing assignment? Wish you had some good strategies for being sure your paper has “flow”? Looking for some ideas for revising your draft? Frustrated with some grammar or punctuation issues?
Drop by the Writing Center in Lewis Hall 321. (Check our current hours.) We can’t wait to meet you!
