At Tapestry, the highly anticipated restaurant that opened Spring 2016, in New York's West Village, renowned Indian-American Michelin Star chef Suvir Saran and his team present an evolving seasonal menu that interprets cuisines of the world through an Indian palate. Drawing threads of ingredients and techniques from around the globe, Saran and his culinary companions in the kitchen weave them artfully into dishes of their own: informed by India, inspired by lands beyond -- and each with a story to tell. A meatball at Tapestry, for example, will not be redolent of curry -- but it may reveal a hidden bite of ginger within, evoking the spices of the chef's homeland. Tapestry's Indian sensibilities function as a subtle lens on the menu, and will be nearly imperceptible in the crisp, contemporary atmosphere, where the only 'tapestries' in sight will be the striking compositions on the plates. Here, the focus is on the food, each item 'woven' in the kitchen and proudly displayed tabletop, ready for a guest to savor its story.
