More about The Coliseum of Sioux Falls

The Coliseum in downtown Sioux Falls was built in 1917 for less than $100,000. Soon after completion, it became known nationwide. The Coliseum was used as the venue in Sioux Falls for many years hosting a wide variety of events. The Coliseum helped drive the economic, cultural, and political development of Sioux Falls. President Woodrow Wilson spoke here in 1919 on a tour promoting the League of Nations. Entertainment legends such as Bob Hope, Basil Rathbone, John Barrymore, Al Jolson, John Phillip Sousa, George Gershwin, Comedian George Carlin, Weird Al Yankovic and Ella Fitzgerald preformed here. The Coliseum nearly burned down in 1973, but thanks to the collective efforts of the community The Coliseum is now restored and ready to make new history in Sioux Falls.
